The Hippo is a character in the Supers theme, a member of the Axis of Antagonists. His prior life was as wealthy aristocrat Maximillian Waterhorse, third Earl of Taweret. On an African safari, he was thrown by a native guide into the Zambezi River. Unknown to him, there was a nuclear powerplant upstream. His struggles in the water attracted a Radioactive Hippopotamus, which attacked and bit him. Though the rest of the safari group presumed his death, he lived, becoming a super-strong half-man/half-hippo. He swore vengeance but, not knowing who pushed him into the water, he lashes out at everyone and anyone.
